The TQ Social Group now has a Facebook page, which is a great way of keeping up to date with us and what is going on. You can find the page by heading to https://www.facebook.com/groups/1147781048691286/
This is a closed Facebook group. If you are not already in touch with us, please drop us a line via our Contact Us page and let us know who you are and that you are interested in the TQ Social Group. Yes, I've come to the conclusion that I am a very bad TQ blogger. Here's our first blog in absolute ages - better late than never, I guess. I might have to delegate this job :)
It's been a great year so far for the TQ Social Group. The group has continued to grow and new members continue to join us and become part of this special community group. If you are new to the area - or looking to extend your social circle - this is a great way to meet new people in a friendly and relaxed environment. Why not come along and join us for a cuppa? What have you got to lose? A big thank you to everyone that helps make the TQ Social Group so fantastic. We particularly would like to thank Dave for letting us use his wonderful garden to hold our Summer picnic last month. We had a great time, fabulous company, lovely food, brilliant weather - what more could we ask for, eh? Oh, we really must get better at this whole blogging malarkey. If the TQ Social Group has to have a New Year's resolution, it will be to try to remember to blog more :)
A big thank you to everyone that came along to our December get together. What a lovely time we had. Dave and Dennis very kindly hosted the meeting at their house and everyone that came along brought a great selection of food and drink for us all to enjoy. It was so much fun and a really brilliant way to kick off the festive holiday. We can't believe how much the TQ Social Group continued to grow throughout 2015 - with many new guys joining us over the months. A big thank you to everyone that supports the group. It means so much to us. If you're thinking about coming along and saying hi, then please just drop us a message via the Contact Us page and we will be sure to get in touch as soon as we can. It would be great to see you in 2016 What lazy bloggers we have been! It's been about 6 months since we last posted a blog up on this page, but that doesn't mean the TQ Social Group hasn't been busy. The group continues to grow from strength to strength and it is a real joy to see so many new guys joining us as the months go by. Our recent change of venue has certainly had a positive effect on the group and we are so happy to continue to be an important local place for guys to get together, to meet new friends and catch up with old ones.
‘Perfect Day’ TQ’s Summer Picnic
Arriving at Dartington Hall just after midday everyone congregated in the overflow car park before sauntering off in eager anticipation of the country side and what the afternoon would bring. The sun was shining on a lovely summer’s day and it felt like we were all part of an Enid Blyton adventure; The Famous Five or The Secret Seven :) After a short stroll through the adjacent fields we arrived at our destination on the river bank, a quiet peaceful setting away from the madding crowd. Laying the blankets on the ground, very quickly, they became covered in a variety of produce including the odd bottle of wine, everyone’s offering for the assembled throng. Making ourselves comfortable we began tucking in, as, in a relaxed mood people chatted and passed the time in jovial banter with one another. Neil throwing caution to the wind went for a dip in the river whist Steve eager to catch the unfolding story of events clicked away with his camera. A steam train came over the brow of the hill spontaneously everyone began waving as the passengers, with equal enthusiasm, waved back. The moment was shortly followed by a young couple rowing by on the river, smiling as contentedly they found themselves lost in the joy of a summer’s day. Having eaten our fill, satisfied we made our way up the steep incline back to the car park and Dartington Hall Literature Festival. There we enjoyed a coffee together before saying our farewells and departing our separate ways. Rhys x A big thank you to everyone that came along to this months meeting. Not even the rain and the gale force winds stopped us having another really lovely turn-out. It was great to see so many of us together and enjoying time in each others company. A big welcome to Rob and W - who came along for the first time! It was good to have you both join us and we hope to see you at future get TQ Social Group meetings.
This mornings meeting flew by, and it was hard to know where the time went. After a couple of hours of chatting, some of us then stayed on for lunch - which was lovely. If you are reading this and have never been along to the group, then please get in touch and say hi. It would be great to have you join us next month :) A brand New Year, and a lovely first TQ Social Group meeting for 2014. The temporary change of venue for the month didn't deter a great group of guys from turning up to join us. After a couple of hours of chat and catching up over a drink or two, nearly everyone then stayed on to have lunch.
Not only was it nice to get together with regular TQ'ers, it was very nice to have a couple of new guys join us today. It is great to see the group continuing to grow and reach out to new people in the area. A big welcome to John and Colin (as well as Paddy!). Thank you for coming along and we hope to see you both again at future meetings. We look forward to having many more wonderful meetings over the coming months!! This is to wish Jon S all the best while he is away in Spain for the next couple of months. We will miss him at the TQ Social Group meetings and we look forward to having him back with us in the Spring. Have a great time, buddy!
And a Happy Christmas to you! And so we reached the final meeting of 2013. We made our venue a little festive and welcomed the TQ'ers to our December meeting - including new guy Stuart (one of two guys that had braved the weather to travel to Totnes from Exeter). After the meeting we repaired to our favourite hostelry - The Seven Stars - for lunch. We had a great meal, a lot of fun, and we even welcomed to our table a visitor who had not attended the group for a couple of years and happened to be in the Hotel for lunch. It was great to see you Richard! A big thank you to everyone that has continued to support the TQ Social Group this year - we appreciate it! And even bigger thanks to Paul D who has valiantly held the reins for a year or more. Jon W - a new TQ member -summed up the strength of the group like this: "After meeting up at the TQ Social Group I can honestly say that I'm 'glad to be gay' - with the support and friendship that the TQ Group gives." I'll be back in the Spring - until then be well and be happy! Jon S |
